Services

SFIS operates on a referral only basis whereby all clients are referred by one of the following organisations

• Money Advice Agencies
• Local Development Companies
• Social Work Departments
• Law Centres
• Equal Access
• Prevention of Homelessness Project

Being referred to SFIS will be the final resort for clients; they will have already exhausted all other options i.e. services offered by the above organisations.

What We Will Do

Ultimately, SFIS will provide the following services for clients:

• Loan guarantee fund
• Access to the Budgeting Service
• Access to financial mannagement and budgeting skills
• Access to employment and training

Loan Guarantee Fund

Individuals are referred to us because they have problem debt; they find it so difficult to pay this debt because the interest to be paid is often just as high as the repayments themselves, and is ever increasing.  The Loan Guarantee Fund is also available for clients facing wage arrestment, attachment orders, bankcruptcy and/or eviction notices where rent, mortgage or council tax arrears have been the problem.

Therefore, we pay a sum of the client's debt with a loan guarantee fund, preventing interest on the clients debt getting even higher.  Thereafter, the client will repay SFIS at a considerably lower interest rate of 2 per cent.

Access to employment and training

It is central to the ethos of SFIS that our clients are provided with a long term solution to problem debt.  Therefore, SFIS works with Greater Pollok Development Company (EQUIP) and Castlemilk Economic Development Agency (CEDA) to assist our clients into employment and/or training.
